U.S. appeals court weighs appeal by Silk Road website creator

"Joshua Dratel, Ulbricht's lawyer, told the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York that his client was prevented from introducing evidence of corrupt acts by two government agents in the probe, depriving him of a fair trial."

"Dratel said jurors should have been allowed to hear evidence related to two government agents, Carl Force and Shaun Bridges, who later pleaded guilty and received prison terms for stealing bitcoins during the investigation."

"Silk Road operated for more than two years, generating $213 million in sales while allowing users to buy drugs and other illicit goods, prosecutors said."

"The website, which relied on the Tor network, was seized by authorities in 2013 as they arrested Ulbricht, who they said operated it under the alias Dread Pirate Roberts."

The first Dread Pirate is still fighting for his freedom. If you guys don't know the story Ulbricht founded the silk road, it's goal was harm reduction in the war on drugs. The government (illegally) gained access to the site and brought it down. There is no doubt Ulbricht or DPR(Dread Pirate Roberts) founded and made millions off the site (in college that website was the shit, best stuff out there no doubt), the problem is that the government blocked the MANY legitimate defenses DPR had including the fruit of the poisonous tree defense that states the government can not use evidence against you gathered illegally. Even if you dont find the war on drugs a vile overreach and waste of taxpayers dollars as I do, the subversion of the courts by the feds should be a concern. This case set many dangerous precedents in regards to our digital rights.

Watchdog group accuses Clinton campaign of election law violations

A nonpartisan watchdog group Thursday called for a federal investigation of Hillary Clinton's campaign committee, accusing it of illegally accepting millions of dollars worth of "opposition research" and other assistance from Correct the Record, an outside super-PAC, in violation of U.S. election laws.

Correct the Record, which has taken in over $6 million in this campaign from hedge-fund executives, plaintiffs' lawyers and other wealthy donors, has effectively become a "parallel shadow" arm of the Clinton campaign, said Larry Noble, who served for 13 years as the chief legal counsel for the FEC and is now chief counsel of the Campaign Legal Center. "They're training people [for the Clinton campaign], they're doing research for it. They've really pushed the envelope in this case, and ripped it open.

PDB: I saw this and had to post it. Correct this record.

Gary Johnson: I'll sleep soundly if Donald Trump wins

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson said he is comfortable with his decision to run even if he turns out to take votes from Democrat Hillary Clinton securing a victory for Republican Donald Trump.

"If, in fact, your candidacy helps Donald Trump become president of the United States, are you comfortable with that?" Couric asked.

"Heres what Im comfortable with," he said, "is that right now I am leading among independents and right now 50 percent of Americans who are going to register to vote are registering as independents. 50 percent! Thats amazing. Wheres their representation? Well, right now, Im leading in that category."

Couric beseeched Johnson to answer her question, and he insisted that he was. He started to say that its irrelevant whether or not his campaign inadvertently helps Trump, before finally acquiescing.

"Absolutely, Katie. Absolutely. Im going to sleep well at night. I could[nt] care less about Democrats and Republicans. I think theyve lost touch with America."

DPB: I will sleep fine as well. He made an excellent point, the duopoly has completely lost touch. Sorry Gary your the wrong person for the job though, we need Stein!

America's Female Chess Champion Boycotts Iran Tournament Over Hijab Law

After learning that the 2017 Women's World Chess Championship would be held in Iran , America's top female chess player announced this week that she would boycott the tournament in the name of women's rights.

Nazi Paikidze-Barnes, a Russian-born Georgian-American, has led a public boycott of the event along with a number of her female competitors who object to the Islamic Republic's strict enforcement of a law mandating women's use of a hijab, or headscarf.

In an Instagram post, Paikidze explained that she is "not anti-Islam" and that she's had "wonderful" personal experiences with Iranian people.

Paikidze also created a petition on change.org calling on FIDE to reconsider holding the tournament in Iran and accusing it of violating its own stated principles against sexual discrimination.

FIDE responded to the boycott in a statement. "There were no complaints from the players or officials and everybody respected the laws of the country, including the dress requirements," FIDE said, referring to three international women's tournaments Iran had recently hosted. The organization said the dress requirement is Iran's policy, not its own, and that it is "reviewing all possible solutions for the players' comfort and will discuss all the issues with the organizers in Iran during meetings in the next few weeks."

DPB: It's obvious from FIDE's statements that they don't get it. Sign the petition to have FIDE reconsider. I guarantee Hillary won't adress this at all and once again young women are the foot soldiers of feminism and progressivism.

Clinton also told a housing trade group in 2013 that on certain issues, she has "a public and a private position." "If everybody's watching, you know, all of the back room discussions and the deals, you know, then people get a little nervous, to say the least," said Clinton, "So, you need both a public and a private position."
