Felony mishandling of classified information, including our nation's most closely guarded intelligence secrets; the misappropriation and destruction of tens of thousands of government records - these are serious criminal offenses. To this point, the Justice Department and FBI have found creative ways not to charge Hillary Clinton for them. Whether this will remain the case has yet to be seen. As we go to press, the stunning news has broken that the FBI's investigation is being reopened. It appears, based on early reports, that in the course of examining communications devices in a separate "sexting" investigation of disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner, the bureau stumbled on relevant e-mails - no doubt connected to Huma Abedin, Mr. Weiner's wife and, more significantly, Mrs. Clinton's closest confidant. According to the New York Times, the FBI has seized at least one electronic device belonging to Ms. Abedin as well. New e-mails, never before reviewed by the FBI, have been recovered.

Michael Moore Owes Me $4.99

Contributed by: RTIII , dayanmao , Alan McLemore

Michael Moore has made some terrific movies in the past, and Where to Invade Next may be the best of them, but I expected Trumpland to be (1) about Trump, (2) funny, (3) honest, (4) at least relatively free of jokes glorifying mass murder. I was wrong on all counts and would like my $4.99 back, Michael.

Moore's new movie is a film of him doing a stand-up comedy show about how wonderfully awesome Hillary Clinton is - except that he mentions Trump a bit at the beginning and he's dead serious about Clinton being wonderfully awesome.

This film is a text book illustration of why rational arguments for lesser evilist voting do not work. Lesser evilists become self-delusionists. They identify with their lesser evil candidate and delude themselves into adoring the person. Moore is not pushing the "Elect her and then hold her accountable" stuff. He says we have a responsibility to "support her" and "get behind her," and that if after two years - yes, TWO YEARS - she hasn't lived up to a platform he's fantasized for her, well then, never fear, because he, Michael Moore, will run a joke presidential campaign against her for the next two years (this from a guy who backed restricting the length of election campaigns in one of his better works).

Moore maintains that virtually all criticism of Hillary Clinton is nonsense. What do we think, he asks, that she asks how many millions of dollars you've put into the Clinton Foundation and then she agrees to bomb Yemen for you? Bwahahaha! Pretty funny. Except that Saudi Arabia put over $10 million into the Clinton Foundation, and while she was Secretary of State Boeing put in another $900,000, upon which Hillary Clinton reportedly made it her mission to get the planes sold to Saudi Arabia, despite legal restrictions - the planes now dropping U.S.-made bombs on Yemen with U.S. guidance, U.S. refueling mid-air, U.S. protection at the United Nations, and U.S. cover in the form of pop-culture distraction and deception from entertainers like Michael Moore.

JAMES COMEY BROKE WITH LORETTA LYNCH AND JUSTICE DEPARTMENT TRADITION

According to the Administration official, Lynch asked Comey to follow Justice Department policies, but he said that he was obliged to break with them because he had promised to inform members of Congress if there were further developments in the case. He also felt that the impending election created a compelling need to inform the public, despite the tradition of acting with added discretion around elections. The Administration official said that Lynch and Justice Department officials are studying the situation, which he called unprecedented.

What the WikiLeak Revelations Reveal About Donna Brazile and the DNC

EDITOR: Title SHOULD BE: How Corrupt Is The Democratic Party?

Donna Brazile, interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, faces new scrutiny as evidence points to abuses of power.

Brazile's alliance with the Hillary Clinton team looks to have started in 2008. In February of that year, while Clinton was running for president against Barack Obama, CNN political commentator and consultant Paul Begala wrote an email to the Clinton team saying that it should "court" Brazile. At that time, during the primaries, Brazile refused to publicly endorse a candidate but worked closely with the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Until recently, she also worked for CNN and ABC News. Her close relationship with the Clinton camp has deepened over the years.

Evidence that Brazile would begin working to help Clinton is seen in an interview she gave with Joe Heim of The Washington Post in 2014. She told Heim:

Technically, I'm neutral, but neutrality is something that gets you in trouble because, you ever notice someone who stands on the white line in the middle of the road? They get run over. And I don't want to get run over. So I'm not neutral. I have to tell people that I'm neutral, but I'm ready for Hillary.

By the time this interview was conducted, she was already vice chair of the DNC. It is important to note that article 5, section 4 of the DNC Charter requires that the chairperson, national officers and staff of the DNC "maintain impartiality and evenhandedness during the Democratic Party Presidential nominating process."

Clinton Campaign Planned To Vilify Nurses For Backing Sanders

Contributed by: smkngman3

Robby Mook, the manager for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, urged staff to attack National Nurses United (NNU) as "fringe" and suggested they were "not a 'real' union," according to emails published by WikiLeaks.

NNU gave Bernie Sanders one of his biggest union endorsements. The nurses union also invested a lot of time and resources into get out the vote efforts and hosted a major People's Summit in June that brought all the forces, which were supportive of the Sanders campaign, together in Chicago to explore how to carry on a people's agenda after the election.

RoseAnn DeMoro, executive director of NNU, responded, "The Clinton team's attack on nurses as 'fringe' and not a 'real union' is deplorable, but hardly a shock. It's a window in how they seek to vilify any critics, as evidenced in other emails showing Clinton's mocking disdain for environmental activists."

DeMoro continued, "Apparently, a 'real union' is only one that falls lock step within the Democratic Party establishment and 'fringe' when it fails to embrace partnerships with Wall Street and other corporate interests."

UN Expert to Investigate Israel's War on Human Rights Defenders"

A United Nations expert said on Friday that Israel is attacking human rights organizations and trying to delegitimize their work and that he will launch an investigation into the problem.

Michael Lynk, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, presented his first report to the UN General Assembly calling Israel to end the nearly 50 years of occupation, which he said "is entrenched, is dripping in human rights violations."

"The fact that the Israeli government threatened to revoke the citizenship of the executive director of B'Tselem is a particularly worrying path for Israel to wind up taking," Lynk said, referring to the rights groups' appearance before the Security Council earlier this month.

False Advertising: The Democratic Party's Failure to Support Women of Color Candidates:

Contributed by: s k

Source

Marketing is how the purported "party of peace" has spent the past eight years, turning US involvement in two wars into involvement in no less than seven, strengthening the surveillance state and overseeing the militarization of police forces. It is how the publicized "party of racial justice" brought the 1994 Crime Bill, welfare reform and an administration that, in part, gave rise to the Black Lives Matter movement. It is how the professed "party of labor" constructed trade deals like the North American Free Trade Agreement and the Trans-Pacific Partnership. And it is how the presumptive "party of the middle class" removed Glass-Steagall, paid rather than prosecuted financial lawbreakers who crashed the economy, and introduced the lobbyist-written Dodd-Frank Act.

Now, the Democratic Party is running a marketing campaign presenting its product as the antithesis of the racism and sexism of Donald Trump. The falseness of the party's claims is particularly apparent in its documented opposition to women of color within its own ranks.

The Democratic Party vs. Women of Color

Lucy Flores is a politician with a powerful and inspirational life story. Flores grew up in poverty as one of 13 children of a single father and "fell through the cracks," as many do, when she dropped out of high school and became involved with a gang. But she turned her life around and earned her GED, a college degree and a law degree before she was elected as a Nevada State Representative. In 2016 \- 2018, Flores sought election to the US House of Representatives. With local as well as national popularity, she enjoyed front-runner status in the Democratic primary and seemed likely to join the only 6 percent of Congress members who are women of color. That is, until she faced opposition -- what some would call "sabotage" -- from the highest echelons of the Democratic Party establishment.

"Not just [Hillary] Clinton, but [Harry] Reid lined up against me," Flores told Truthout. Corporate donations poured into her nondescript opponent's coffers while Bill Clinton actively campaigned against her -- a curious level of involvement in a primary for a former president -- and Flores was defeated.

[This is also found at The Washington Post.]

A 2011 memo from top Bill Clinton aide Douglas Band, published by WikiLeaks, details "a circle of enrichment in which [Band] raised money for the Clinton Foundation from top-tier corporations such as Dow Chemical and Coca-Cola that were clients of his firm, Teneo, while pressing many of those same donors to provide personal income to the former president," reports The Washington Post.

The Post continues:

The system has drawn scrutiny from Republicans [and progressives], who say it allowed corporations and other wealthy supporters to pay for entree to a popular former president and a onetime secretary of state who is now the Democratic presidential nominee. …

The memo, made public Wednesday by the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks, lays out the aggressive strategy behind lining up the consulting contracts and paid speaking engagements for Bill Clinton that added tens of millions of dollars to the family's fortune, including during the years that Hillary Clinton led the State Department. It describes how Band helped run what he called "Bill Clinton Inc.," obtaining "in-kind services for the President and his family - for personal travel, hospitality, vacation and the like."

Band grew close to Clinton during the '90s as his personal aide in the White House and became "the architect of his post-presidential activities," the Post reports. In the memo, Band argues that his work and the work of his firm benefited the former president and his family's foundation:

"We have dedicated ourselves to helping the President secure and engage in for-profit activities," Band wrote. He added that he had "sought to leverage my activities, including my partner role at Teneo, to support and to raise funds for the foundation."

Clinton bemoans US not rigging 2006 Palestinian election in newly-released tape

Decade-old audio exposes then-Senator Hillary Clinton saying the US should have manipulated Palestinian parliamentary elections in 2006 to prevent a Hamas victory. The presidential candidate lamented that the US didn't "determine who was going to win."

"I do not think we should have pushed for an election in the Palestinian territories. I think that was a big mistake," then-New York Senator Clinton told the Jewish Press, a New York-based weekly newspaper, several months after the January election.

"And if we were going to push for an election, then we should have made sure that we did something to determine who was going to win," she said.

This may have happened to you. You idly browse a pair of shoes online one morning, and for the rest of the week, those shoes follow you across the Internet, appearing in adverts across the websites you visit.

But what if those ads could pop out of your browser and hound you across different devices? This is the power of ultrasound technology, says Vasilios Mavroudis at University College London - and it offers a whole new way in for hacking attacks and privacy invasions. He and his colleagues will spell out their concerns at next week's Black Hat cybersecurity conference in London.

So far, this kind of ultrasound technology has mainly been used as a way for marketers and advertisers to identify and track people exposed to their messages, like a cross-device cookie. High-frequency audio "beacons" are embedded into TV commercials or browser ads. These sounds, which are inaudible to the human ear, can be picked up by any nearby device that has a microphone and can then activate certain functions on that device. But the technology has many more applications. Some shopping reward apps, such as Shopkick, already use it to let retailers push department or aisle-specific ads and promotions to customers' phones as they shop.

"It doesn't require any special technology," Mavroudis says. "If you're a supermarket, all you need are regular speakers."
