For the political left and center, President-elect Donald Trump's victory on Tuesday was an apocalyptic defeat. Still, establishment Democrats are refusing to blame a fatally ineffectual game plan.

Hillary Clinton's campaign saw Michigan as one big Detroit, discounting how well Trump's anti-trade platform, however disingenuous, resonated along the Rust Belt. Just ask Michael Moore - or Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell, who penned an I-told-you-so op-ed for The Washington Post on Thursday.

"I was the crazy one," Dingell wrote. "I predicted that Hillary Clinton was in trouble in Michigan during the Democratic primary. I observed that Donald Trump could win the Republican nomination for president."

Obama set to green-light disputed Dakota Access pipeline

The Obama administration is expected to approve the disputed easement for the Dakota Access pipeline as soon as Monday, according to two sources familiar with the timing - dealing a major blow to climate activists even before Donald Trump takes office.

The decision would let the pipeline be built across the Missouri River near the Standing Rock Sioux's reservation in North Dakota, where protesters have been camped out for months in one of the largest ongoing environmental standoffs of recent years.
