"Do you think you could have just had a decent message for white, working-class voters?" Conway continued. "How about, it's Hillary Clinton, she doesn't connect with people? How about, they have nothing in common with her? How about, she doesn't have an economic message?"

Clinton's chief strategist Joel Benenson said there were "dog whistles sent out to people."

Senate takes aim at 'bots' that snap up concert seats

The Senate is cracking down on computer software used by ticket brokers to snap up tickets to concerts and shows.

Senators passed legislation by voice vote Wednesday that would make using the software an "unfair and deceptive practice" under the Federal Trade Commission Act and allow the FTC to pursue those cases. The House passed similar legislation in September, but the bills are not identical so the Senate legislation now moves to the House.

The so-called "bots" rapidly purchase as many tickets as possible for resale at significant markups. They are one of the reasons why tickets to a Bruce Springsteen concert or "Hamilton" performance can sell out in just a few minutes.

Kansas Sen. Jerry Moran sponsored the bill. He says it takes aim at artificially inflated prices.

Cornel West: Bernie Sanders Is Wrong. The Democratic Party Cannot Be Reformed

CORNEL WEST: Well, I think there's going to be a lot of different responses. I have a deep love and respect for brother Bernie Sanders. I always will. I don't always agree with him. I'm not convinced that the Democratic Party can be reformed. I think it still has a kind of allegiance to a neoliberal orientation. It still has allegiance to Wall Street, the very victory of Nancy Pelosi is a sign that neoliberalism is still hegemonic in the party. I hope that Keith Ellison is able to present a challenge to it. But, my hunch is -- AMY GOODMAN: -- as head of -- if he makes it is head of the Democratic National Committee. CORNEL WEST: If he's head of the DNC. But my hunch is the Democratic Party has simply run out of gas. I mean, this is a party that couldn't even publicly oppose TPP when we debated that in the Platform Committee. And that's just one small example. Couldn't stop -- couldn't vote to stop Fracking, and so on. So, it's still so tied to big money.

A former Florida police officer says he was fired for "blowing the whistle" on his department's "unconstitutional" practices of racial profiling that specifically targeted young black males. He has sued the city of Miami Gardens, seeking $75,000 in damages.

Jose Rosado served on the Miami Gardens Police Department (MGPD) for over seven years, until he was terminated in June 2015.

Rosado has now sued the city, which he is accusing of violating the Whistleblower's Act, aimed at protecting people exposing wrongdoings.

Hillary Clinton's "Corrupt Establishment" Is Now Advising Donald Trump

Contributed by: Alan McLemore

Source

"THE ESTABLISHMENT," Donald Trump famously said during his closing argument for the presidency, "has trillions of dollars at stake in this election."

He described "a global power structure that is responsible for the economic decisions that have robbed our working class, stripped our country of its wealth and put that money into the pockets of a handful of large corporations and political entities."

He asked the country to be "brave enough to vote out this corrupt establishment."

Now, less than four weeks after riding that line to victory, he formally invited the establishment into his administration....

Hillary quote stating that removing Assad was doing Israel a favor

Bringing down Assad would not only be a massive boon to Israel's security, it would also ease Israel's understandable fear of losing its nuclear monopoly. Then, Israel and the United States might be able to develop a common view of when the Iranian program is so dangerous that military action could be warranted....

U.S. military veterans were building barracks on Friday at a protest camp in North Dakota to support thousands of activists who have squared off against authorities in frigid conditions to oppose a multibillion-dollar pipeline project near a Native American reservation.

Veterans volunteering to be human shields have been arriving at the Oceti Sakowin camp near the small town of Cannon Ball, where they will work with protesters who have spent months demonstrating against plans to route the Dakota Access Pipeline beneath a lake near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, organizers said.

Chiquita's Terrorist Funding, Bureau of Prisons Admits CIA Afghanistan Prison Visit

A federal judge in Florida ruled that "victims of Colombian paramilitary death squads funded by Chiquita" have a right to have their case heard in the United States rather than Colombia, "clearing the way for the historic case to advance toward trial." The ruling comes nearly a decade after Chiquita pled guilty in 2007 to charges of "engaging in unauthorized transactions" with the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC), which was designated a global terrorist organization by the US State Department in 2001.

"It's an important win for the victims of violent groups funded by Chiquita," said Michael Evans, director of the Archive's Colombia documentation project, "and a big boost for groups seeking to hold multinational corporations accountable for human rights crimes in US courts."

By David J. Robinson

The Riley court established a rare bright-line rule under the Fourth Amendment when it declared that data searches of cell phones - regardless of type - are unlawful incident to arrest. This article analyzes Riley and provides guidance to practitioners and judges about how to deal with motions to exclude evidence collected before and after the high court ruling.

Mr. Ou, 30, said he was detained on Oct. 1 for more than six hours when he tried to fly from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Bismarck, N.D., to cover the protests of an oil pipeline project near the Standing Rock reservation.

He was ultimately denied entry, and he said though he was not given a reason, he was told his name matched that of a "person of interest." During the hours of detention, he was asked to describe how and why he had traveled to each country he had visited in the past five years, and questioned about whether he had seen anyone die.

Agents requested access to his phones and to look through his photos so that they could make sure he was "not posing next to any dead bodies," he said. When he refused, citing the need to protect his sources as a journalist, they took the phones, he said.

The phones were later returned and showed signs that the SIM cards had been replaced, he said. Giving up the contents of his private phone would be akin to a doctor giving up confidential patient information, he said.

FBI Gains New Hacking Powers While GOP Congress Sits on Sidelines

The FBI is now allowed to hack into computers anywhere in the world using only a single warrant, according to a new rule that was quietly implemented on Thursday.

Prior to the new policy taking effect, federal computer investigators could only hack into a computer within the same district where they obtained a warrant from a judge. "Rule 41," as it is known, changes those procedures, allowing feds to search potentially any computer, regardless of where the warrant was issued.

Devices that investigators believe are part of a botnet or that are masking their location would be vulnerable to the new single-warrant intrusions.

I Choose...

to live by choice, not by chance.
to be motivated, not manipulated.
to be useful, not used.
to make changes, not excuses.
to excel, not compete.
I choose self-esteem, not self pity.
I choose my inner voice,
not the random opinions of others.
