For a Republican, author has some surprisingly good ideas: Former CIA Spy Has A Christmas Message For Trump

#1 You are not only an accidental president, you are a fringe president. 27% of the eligible voters elected you (1% more than elected Barack Obama). 26% of the eligible voters hate you with the passion common to the brain-washed or brain-dead, and 47% did not vote at all. Trump won against all odds (20-1 at best, 200-1 at worst) because Hillary Clinton was not able to use the same electronic voting fraud against you that she used to steal thirteen primaries from Bernie Sanders. That was the big one; in combination with her calling us all "deplorables," her spaz attack in NYC, her doctor and nurse in constant attendance, and of course the emails leaked by insiders - not the Russians, John Brennan is a liar plain and simple - she lost more than you won.

Video: Trump invites Russia to hack Clinton, Reich interview by Amy Goodman, Democracy Now

Democracy Now's Amy Goodman interviews Robert Reich in a video titled, "Robert Reich on the First 100 Day Resistance Agenda Against Trump: Protest & 'Boycot Everything'."

...The first five and a half minutes are rather banal stuff about Trump's attacks on the Broadway troup that asked Pence to serve all of us, but at about 5:30 minutes in shifts to something I had ENTIRELY MISSED: Donald Trump, on camera, from a podium somewhere in Florida, inviting Russia to find Hillary's 30K missing emails. At about 5:46, there he is saying he thinks they'll find a lot of valuable stuff.

WOW! IDK how I missed that! It's no wonder the Dems are all over "the Russians did it" like stink on shit.

It also explains why they think Trump's a Russian sympathizer or has some relationship to him - otherwise, why would they do his bidding?!

As he's done talking about that, Amy cites how that clip was from his most recent press conference, how he's shunning the media, and how he's planning to continue to use Rallies as a means of communicating with the Press. So, at around 9 minutes in, Reich shifts to talking about how the media is valuable (or supposed to be), and he cites "talking truth to power" and "asking the questions the average person can't ask", completely oblivious to the fact that the Main-Stream Media in the USA no longer serves these functions, if it ever did.

Reich then goes on to say that he thinks Trumps going to "continue to state things that are simply not true" - and cites CIA claims the Russian hacked as an example of things Trump will deny... And in the SAME BREATH equates the truth of science with CIA claims about Russian hacking! I REALLY couldn't believe that this is the same Robert Reich that I know (personally - from my days as a researcher at UC Berkeley). Sheepdogging for Hillary is one thing - overblown fears and misplaced buying in to propaganda - but to elevate CIA statements to the level of science is patently absurd!

At 11:15 they shift to the new Labor Secretary appointee... As Reich was a Secretary of Labor, he's a good one to ask. And, he points out, rightly, that Trump's pick is likely a HUGE disaster for the American People, all but guaranteeing a MASSIVE R loss in the mid-terms.

FINALLY, at 14:15 in - of a 16:09 video titled about the 100 days - and why I chose the clip - they start in on the question of "first 100 day resistance agenda". It got all of about one sentence - at most two, and Reich's best suggestion is: boycot Trump products. ... Kinda pissed at Democracy Now for headline-baiting.

Still, this is worth it for the clip I had missed on Trump ASKING the Russians to intervene.

Watch the video.

WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chair Sharon Day released the following statement celebrating Christmas:

"Merry Christmas to all! Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King. [Emphasis added.] We hope Americans celebrating Christmas today will enjoy a day of festivities and a renewed closeness with family and friends.

Trump's a King, eh?

Obama Quietly Signs The "Countering Disinformation and Propaganda Act" Into Law

But while the passage of the NDAA - and the funding of the US military - was hardly a surprise, the biggest news is what was buried deep inside the provisions of the Defense Authortization Act.

Recall that as we reported in early June, "a bill to implement the U.S.' very own de facto Ministry of Truth had been quietly introduced in Congress. As with any legislation attempting to dodge the public spotlight the Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act of 2016 marks a further curtailment of press freedom and another avenue to stultify avenues of accurate information. Introduced by Congressmen Adam Kinzinger and Ted Lieu, H.R. 5181 seeks a "whole-government approach without the bureaucratic restrictions" to counter "foreign disinformation and manipulation," which they believe threaten the world's "security and stability."

Also called the Countering Information Warfare Act of 2016 (S. 2692), when introduced in March by Sen. Rob Portman, the legislation represents a dramatic return to Cold War-era government propaganda battles. "These countries spend vast sums of money on advanced broadcast and digital media capabilities, targeted campaigns, funding of foreign political movements, and other efforts to influence key audiences and populations," Portman explained, adding that while the U.S. spends a relatively small amount on its Voice of America, the Kremlin provides enormous funding for its news organization, RT.

This is easily the most important item in Today's News Summary so far today.

Crappy he has to do this at Christmas. Bastard.

"From the information that we have, we have no doubt that the Obama administration initiated it, stood behind it, coordinated on the wording and demanded that it be passed," Netanyahu, speaking in Hebrew, told ministers on Sunday.

Netanyahu also took aim at the US Secretary of State, adding in English: "As I told John Kerry on Thursday, friends don't take friends to the Security Council."

His office released a copy of the remarks, with translation, on his website.

"Over decades American administrations and Israeli governments have disagreed about settlements, but we agreed the Security Council was not the place to resolve this issue," Netanyahu said.

Nicole Adamczyk's drinking water used to slosh through a snarl of pipes dating from the Coolidge administration - a rusty, rickety symbol of the nation's failing infrastructure.

So, in 2012, this blue-collar port city cut a deal with a Wall Street investment firm to manage its municipal waterworks.

Four years later, many of those crusty brown pipes have been replaced by shiny cobalt-blue ones, reflecting a broader infrastructure overhaul in Bayonne. But Ms. Adamczyk's water and sewer bill has jumped so much that she is thinking about moving out of town.

"My reaction was, 'Oh, so I guess I'm screwed now?'" said Ms. Adamczyk, an accountant and mother of two who received a quarterly bill for almost $500 this year. She's not alone: Another resident's bill jumped 5 percent, despite the household's having used 11 percent less water.
